How to Use Your DSLR for Cinema

As the tools of our trade grow less expensive with technology and more accessible to the independent filmmaker, more questions arise.

Take the DSLR camera for example.

They are within the the budget of many a filmmaker, but just what do you need to truly use this camera to create films, either your own, or to hire yourself out to other filmmakers or for corporate shoots?

The Midwest Filmmakers Workshop tackles this issue in this month’s workshop, “DSLR for Cinema.”

Jon-RyanThe workshop will be taught by Cinematographer Jon Michael Ryan of Tangent Mind. He works both commercially and in the documentary world, and has extensive experience across multiple camera platforms ranging from the DSLR to Digital Cinema cameras. He has used DSLR’s on everything from commercials to shorts to music videos to documentaries, and believes first and foremost that strong knowledge of the medium should always precede knowledge of a camera.
